Sustainable Warmth (Green Homes Grant) is a UK Government funded initiative, supporting local projects to make energy-saving improvements in people’s homes. It aims to help households manage fuel bills, make homes warmer and more comfortable, lower carbon emissions, and create green jobs. 

Who are Warmworks?

Warmworks is the Managing Agent of Sustainable Warmth, working on behalf of the Greater South East Energy Hub to support local authorities across the region. Our job is to work closely with the Greater South East Energy Hub and individual local authorities to target people who might qualify for the scheme and then support them throughout the process of their application. What is available?

The improvements offered will be assessed following a survey of your property, carried out by one of our highly qualified Retrofit Assessors, at a convenient time. They will recommend a package of improvements that is suitable for your home and discuss the options available.

Potential improvements include:

  • wall insulation
  • loft insulation
  • underfloor insulation
  • air source, ground source or hybrid heat pumps
  • double glazing to replace single glazing
  • energy efficient doors
  • thermostats and heating controls
  • hot water tank insulation

Please note: Replacement/repair fossil fuel heating systems such as gas/oil/LPG boilers are not available through this scheme.

Who qualifies for Sustainable Warmth (Green Homes Grant)?

Owner occupiers, and private rented properties are eligible for the scheme. For people who live in a rented property, the landlord will need to give us permission to install energy-saving improvements.

Householders also need to meet certain eligibility criteria to qualify for funding:

  • The home must have a low energy efficiency rating (an EPC rating of D, E, F, or G – this will be assessed by Warmworks)
  • The household must meet one of the other qualifying criteria:
    Annual household income of less than £30,000 (after tax and deductions)
    Annual household income of less than £20,000 a year (after housing costs are deducted)
    Unemployed and receiving benefits related to income, disability or health
    Subject to an income payment agreement (such as bankruptcy, IVA or step change)
    State pension age and receiving housing credit

If you do not meet the eligibility criteria above but struggle to heat your home and pay your fuel bills, please do get in touch with your local authority to discuss available options. How does Sustainable Warmth work?

Our team will provide all the information that is needed when you get in touch with us. We aim to make the process as smooth as possible, from the initial survey through to the installation and inspection. We know every customer’s home and circumstances can be different so please be assured our team is on hand to provide help and support every step of the way.  We are committed to providing an inclusive service and we understand that customers are often in need of extra support – our service has been specifically designed to provide this wherever we can.

Below we have outlined what a typical customer journey through this scheme might look like.

Step 1:

Warmworks receives your details.

Step 2:

An in-home survey is carried out at a time agreed with you

Step 3:

We agree what will be done in the home, and our approved sub-contractor carries out the work

Step 4:

We carry out an independent inspection of the work done, and a customer satisfaction survey is completed

Step 5:

Where required, we complete a full annual service 12 months later

It couldn’t have gone any better, it really couldn’t have. The guys were on time in the morning, they and they were friendly. They did a much better job than I had anticipated in any fashion, and also cleaned up after themselves. All I had to do was sit back and put the heating on and enjoy the heat!
