Warmworks partners with asbestos authority UKATA to support safer, healthier homes

Warmworks has formed a new partnership with the UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) – bringing together two organisations committed to improving health, safety, and quality standards across the UK housing and energy efficiency sectors.

UKATA is a leading authority on asbestos training in the UK, setting standards and providing recognised training to ensure asbestos is managed safely and responsibly. This commitment to fostering knowledge, trust, quality, and safety is closely aligned with Warmworks’ dedication to delivering energy efficiency improvements that create warmer, healthier, and more sustainable homes.

Asbestos is a general name given to a group of naturally occurring mineral fibres that are resistant to heat, fire, and chemicals. Widely used in building materials, insulation, and industrial products throughout the 20th century, asbestos fibres are very dangerous if inhaled and can lead to serious health conditions, including asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma. It is now banned or heavily restricted in many countries.

When work takes place in homes that contain asbestos, there are strict safety protocols that need to be followed to ensure the safety of those working on site as well as the people living in the property.

This new partnership reflects a shared focus on protecting people and communities by promoting best practice, compliance, and awareness around health and safety in both domestic and commercial environments.

Warmworks and UKATA will explore opportunities to share expertise, raise awareness of safe working practices, and support initiatives that align with their mutual goal of improving living conditions and protecting public health.

Debbie Nixon, Senior Operations Manager, UKATA, commented:

“We are really pleased to be working with Warmworks on this partnership. It brings together shared values and a common focus on safety, quality, and supporting positive outcomes for people and communities.”

Kieran McGuire, Warmworks’ Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Director, added:

“Our people are trained to deal with asbestos confidently and safely because we’re committed to building a proactive, people-centred health and safety culture across our organisation and supply chain. Our new partnership with UKATA will play an important role in realising that vision.”
