Warmer Homes Scotland delivers record year for zero emissions heating installations

Warmer Homes Scotland has installed more than 1,100 zero emissions heating systems in homes across the country in 2025/26 – the highest number ever completed in a single year for the Scottish Government’s national fuel poverty support programme.

The figure appears in the latest Warmer Homes Scotland Annual Report, highlighting Scotland’s commitment to supporting a just transition to net zero by helping households decarbonise the way they heat and power their homes.

The annual report sets out the scheme’s impact for the period April 2025 to March 2026. This year also marked a significant milestone, with the 50,000th household supported through the scheme.

In the past 12 months, delivery partner Warmworks has completed assessments, installations, and quality inspections across all of Scotland’s 32 local authorities.

Key numbers from the Warmer Homes Scotland 2025/26 Annual Report:

• 6,270 households across Scotland received support through the scheme, with 99% being satisfied or very satisfied with the service received
• £283  is the average household energy bill saving achieved for households supported by the scheme – equating to a saving of approximately £1.7 million in just one year
• 15,109 energy efficiency improvements were installed in households across the country
• 2,479* renewable and clean heat technologies were installed
• Of that number, 1,102** households benefitted from the installation of zero emissions heating systems, the highest number ever completed in a single year

Stephen Gethins MSP, Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Energy, wrote in the report foreword:

By supporting some of the most vulnerable households in Scotland, the scheme helps people stay warm, reduce their household bills, and improve the energy efficiency of their homes. This report reflects on the achievements of Warmer Homes Scotland during 2025/26, continuing the success of the programme first launched in September 2015.”
