Mr H found out about the support available through the Energy Efficient Scotland: Area-Based Scheme (EES:ABS) in Orkney through the local newspaper. He wanted to apply as he knew that he needed insulation to keep the heat in his home.

After his application was accepted, the Warmworks team in Orkney arranged for a survey to be carried out to look at the measures from which his home might benefit.

“The surveyor was very pleasant and explained what was required and I presented the paperwork that was needed to him.”

The survey recommended a loft insulation top-up for Mr H’s home, and the next step was for a technical survey to be carried out to agree the work that would be completed.

“It went very smoothly. They told me I would have to clear some of my things out of the way.”

On the day of the installation, the local team from Cloustons arrived at Mr H’s property early to get started.

“They arrived at 0830 and cracked on with it. They were finished at about midday. They got stuck into the job and did it very swiftly. The men who came all wore white boiler suits for protection and put down a paper cover to protect my carpets. They were very fast and efficient and tidied up afterwards, I had nothing more to do. I can’t honestly think of anything they could have done better. It all went like clockwork, there was nothing I had to do.”

Once the installation of the loft insulation was completed, the Warmworks team in Orkney arranged for an inspection to take place, to make sure everything was installed correctly and to our high standards. The inspection also found out that, after the installation of the loft insulation, the energy rating of his property increased by five points, from 57 to 62.

Mr H says that, thanks to the installation of the insulation, he has noticed a difference in his home.

‘The house is nice, cosy and comfortable now.”
