Warmworks delivers record year for Scottish Government’s Warmer Homes Scotland scheme
Warmer Homes Scotland has supported over 7,300 households across the country in 2024/25, marking a record year of delivery for the Scottish Government’s national fuel poverty support programme.
The figure has been published in the latest Warmer Homes Scotland Annual Report, which sets out the scheme’s impact for the period April 2024 to March 2025.
In the past 12 months Warmworks, the scheme’s Managing Agent, has completed assessments, installations, and quality inspections across all of Scotland’s 32 local authorities.
Key numbers from the Warmer Homes Scotland 2024/25 Annual Report:
- 7,334 households across Scotland received support through the scheme.
- Households supported saw an average energy bill saving of £466.
- 1,976 renewable and clean heat technologies were installed, the highest number ever completed in a single year.
- An estimated 5,900 tonnes of CO2 have been saved as a result of the energy efficiency improvements installed.
- The average increase in energy efficiency rating per household helped was 6.3 SAP points.
Warmworks was founded in 2015 as a joint venture partnership between Energy Saving Trust, Changeworks and Sureserve, and has been the Managing Agent of the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme since 2015. In that time, the scheme has helped almost 50,000 homes and families across the country to install a range of energy efficiency improvements, helping reduce their energy bills.
Màiri McAllan, Cabinet Secretary for Housing, wrote in the report foreword:
“The impact of Warmer Homes Scotland is significant. The measures installed for eligible households help to reduce health inequalities, provide a better home environment for our children, enable elderly people to stay in their own homes for longer and help those on low incomes to afford to heat their homes.”
Ross Armstrong, Warmworks’ Chief Executive, said:
“This has been an all-time record year for the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme, and I’m incredibly proud of what we, along with our supply chain and our partners, have delivered for households across the country in 2024/25.
“That’s over 7,300 real people and families who are now living in warmer, healthier homes and benefitting from lower fuel bills. Those savings will go a long way in helping so many people in their daily lives – but we know our work is far from over.
“There are still millions of families across the country having to make the impossible choice of heating their home and putting food on the table. We remain fully committed to our mission of tackling fuel poverty and supporting a just transition to net zero.”
